If You Have A Toxic Mindset: DO THIS!
Here is a powerful thought: Jesus has the power to make all things new again…
Let that sink in.
Many times I catch myself with the mindset that my mistakes, flaws, and bad experiences are irreversible and unchangeable. That mindset is truly toxic, a hopeless creature of sorts.
BUT WHEN I THINK OF MY JESUS! I know that nothing is impossible for Him. I know that His mercies are new every morning. I know that He is the only true way to restoration. I know that He is a redeemer. I know that He sees my heart while the world only looks on the outer. I know He is a Good Father. Jesus takes what once was broken, evil, and hopeless and turns us into something good.
Wow. What a mighty God we serve!
If you want to change a toxic mindset, here’s the first step…
Straight from Romans 12:1-2,
“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you: Take your everyday, ordinary life—your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him. Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.” (Romans 12:1-2 MSG)
To be blunt, our world and community today is trying very hard to identify what toxicity and trauma looks like, whether it be in our minds, our relationships, and even our occupations. BUT IF ONLY WE FOCUSED ON WHAT JESUS LOOKS LIKE! What does Jesus sound like in our mind? What does He look like in our relationships? What does He act like at our jobs?
If we dared to turn our thoughts from our mistakes, flaws, and bad experiences… and instead, fixed our attention on God…
Well my friend, you’d be changed from the inside out.
